Reminisce: Korean EpisodeS...part 2

FRIENDS...COMMUTING THROUGH FOOD
friends was da most important chapter in my korean experience. in around 9 months of korean studying... i made around 6-7 Korean friends and of course some non-Korean, Korean studying classmates hehe...mostly through food, cos we lub eating~we also went through a lot of activities i would do w/ my regular friends, but wen it is with them...it is A LOT different ha...chek it

HOT POT COMING THROUGH...
back in Jan 06...dis was my 1st tim ever to have eaten hot pot w/ a bunch of guyz...kinda feel like being da lil sis but then no matter how much i eat, it wud seem like i ate not as much muhahaha....so da story was dis...after 3 brutal rounds, exceeded 2 hr limit, waiters start "hinting" they wanna kick us out, another waiter closed our fire! as mad as we should be, we weren't cos...4 ppl went, drank 20 bucks of drinks BUT ended up w/ a bill of only 3 ppl, drinks free..mad? guess not. dis will be my first n ever hot pot experience. Then went to Ricco 4 sum yummy mango n red bean ice. I think dis was also my first get together w/ Guo, Sungkyu n Junhyuk ,오빠(oppa meaning brother in korean, form of address to older guyz)

my first ever to go to Korean restaurant w/ Korean ppl...believe it or not, it was easier hehe... Guo, Sungkyu oppa, my bro, Kimmy and Danyoung onni was there too...fell in luv w/ 보쌈(possam) since then...

besides eating hehe...one of the activities i enjoy was singing n of course Korean karaoke was one thing i wanted to experience. W/o a korean w/ ya, i think nvr in my life i would get in dat place... their noraebangs are so different from Chinese's...structure, environment n who will know they have a tambourine to accompany you! n of course Koreans are not as shy in singing in front of ppl as Chinese . Dis was also my first time meeting Cynthia (korean classmate) n Ara (energetic n cute Korean girl haha) outside of skool... of course Sungkyu oppa has 2 be here again~great singers!



BBQ PARTY
April 2nd...was bbq party @ my house...kinda like a huge get together w/ all my korean friends w/ my family n friends. Unfortunately, a couple din came but Ginna, Sungkyu n Guo was here. Ginna was such a cute girl, fun spirit~chek her surprised look from walking Miko hehe...Sungkyu n Ginna really enjoy the Western style family gathering n of course Chinese dessert--black sesame paste rice balls! My fav too~ we hit Fisherman's Wharf after n sang karaoke at my place...great memories for all



KOREAN 102: WE ARE ONE...FIRST N LAST
our class get together dinner party was at Royal Seoul House (can't quite remember name)...but ya it was korean food of course haha... food was cool, crazy was da aftermath~~ karaoke upstairs of the restaurant...saw da crazy side of sum ppl~ foto crdz 2 Cynthia n thx her hard work for organizing everything :)

KOREAN 102: we are one! gotta say i vote this class as having the best, diverse, closest n cutest classmates ever ~

though some classmates couldn't come, we still had a great time. This is my first ever class get together n my last. Thx for making dis so memorable Cynthia, n in my final year. Our class was small n dat is exactly how we all got so close. From speaking zero korean to doing a little Korean skit...from sitting beside each other speechless to getting names like "the trios", "starbucks group", talking on msn, singing songs, n eating together...wow! Dis is my first time remembering all my classmates names... all the ppl in our class had such cute character n i wish i would know em longer~ but i will nvr forget u guyz, cos all of u was so special. i may never meet u guyz again but i wish u all the best in wutever u pursue in the future. I hope in the future we can all meet again or sumthing ha...Dun forget ur korean, i hope i won't n be able to self study...Keep up ur korean studying n eat a lot of kimchi! I will miss you all 보고 싶어...^O^

shitty din show up 4 da sleepover but friday we went for "Scary Movie 4". It wasn't as funny....then ate a lil @ Bread Garden afterwards...i did for them my imitation of Ah Do haha. cos now dat i have a cold n sang 4 hrs of karaoke the day before, i have a sexy voice. We all agree my voice now is better, i wanna keep it! Wait...is dat a compliment or insult ?! so here's their obsession revealing again...bit rated R too hehe

Reminisce: Korean EpisodeS...part 1

dis yr is my last yr of school n i decide to dedicate sumthing to Korea in general. It was my choice of studying Korean in my final yr that actually made my best yr in UBC. So lets backtrack ppl...how it all started

THE TRIP
so last yr summer i went to korea unwillingly actually cos i wanted to go to Japan...but it was wen i came back that i started to learn korean. Going to Korea fascinated me as i went w/ no knowledge of it wutsoever cept for kimchi n bbq hehe. The fad at dat time was always Japan dis n Japan dat. So wen i went there, i notice a couple things:

1. it was really similar to Taiwan in terms of environment n building structures. Even their palaces was i think designed under the imitation of Chinese's

2. then i notice da girls actually haha... the % u would hit a nice looking girl on da street was like 70%. . couldn't snap pics of ppl on da street so dis was da closest i could get haha. Pic at Everland (similar to Playland)... ya i actually took da pics cos of the girlz hahaha evilness...gotta look close thou u pervertz

3. da cool fashion. Korean's distinctively had their own fashion n style, n it was a shame that throughout Asia we cannot find Korea clothing. Maybe they are not willin 2 export their stuff? But ya, we cannot find Korean clothing anywhere cept Korea. Believe me, the "Korean" clothing u find in Canada is so NOT KOREAN, they have much fancier n good qual. stuff!

4. Then of couse of da food n ppl. I now know there was more to kimchi n bbq haha. GINSENG CHICKEN SOUP is da thang man!! Koreans actually on avg spoke better engl than Japanese n they were generally quite nice to tourists. Koreans also luv their country n i do mean LOVE

DA DILEMMA
So...upon on arriving to Canada i was truly interested in Korea. Then i had a dilemma whether to take forensic psych or korean. Many ppl told me not to take Korean...
one said it was not useful
2nd it had nothing to do with my major
3rd was too "old" to learn a new language. -_____-''

But being a hard headed me~ i ignored everyone n took it, n i was glad i did! But at first i was really intimidated cos it turns out da "younger" students picked up faster than me n da teacher was going hyper fast...i wanted to drop da course but i changed my mind until i met my first 2 korean friends in psych class. They told me i could ask them 4 help :) I hate da textbook thou!!!

EXPOSURE
so i dunno if it was da korean trend or me lookin into korea more... i got in touch w/ lots more korean music, drama n ent more than i ever did. But i guess it's both. The Korea trend hit crazily in da 05 yr. The only Korean artist i knew before was only Boa but technically through her Japanese career. But now i got in touch w/ Boa's korean career n also Rain, Lee Hyori, Daniel Henney...dramas, u name it. I was a freak! Rain n Daniel Henney was such a nice discovery hehe...
